Bandit Signs
"I Buy Junk Cars" "Cash for Houses" "Cash for Diabetic Test Strips" etc. "Bandit" signs are usually staked into the ground but round these parts they usually do away with the stake and hang 'em from poles and we see plenty of those. Plain and simple, they are ILLEGAL! Feel free to take them down! If they're up too high or they've used power tools to attach them, report them to Code Enforcement (link below) and they'll come round and take them down. |
Personal Signs
For the most part these are Yard Sale signs and Lost Pet flyers. Technically these are illegal too but most of us are just fine with them -- at least temporarily. When you've finished with your Yard Sale, please be sure to go round and collect up the signs you put out there. Don't trash the neighborhood or make them someone's else responsibility to do. If a neighbor has not collected their yard sale sign outside your property and the event is over, take it down and throw it away. It was rude and wrong but there's no point in making a big deal or leaving it up either. Maybe they accidentally overlooked it. Regarding Lost Pet flyers, if you put up the flyers and have found your pet, PLEASE take them down! I think we all hope the owner and their buddy will be reunited and leaving them up provides some hope that will happen. They're usually made of paper and our weather disintegrates them pretty fast so that fast enough for most of us. |
Political Signs
In this heated political climate, we're bound to see an upsurge in political signs for the upcoming 2020 election. It's complicated yet it's not. Everybody is entitled to their opinion and people are allowed to put political signs up in their yards. They should not be staked into the ground without it being blue-staked first. They can not be in that space next to the road. They can not obstruct traffic or the view of vehicles. Political signs are NOT allowed on public property. That's the basics. If you need more info, it's available and can be searched for on the internet. |
